Professional Trainings & Speaking Engagements

The work of helping people has never been more complex. Whether supporting individuals through trauma, navigating ethical dilemmas, leading teams, or working within high-pressure systems, professionals need more than information — they need practical frameworks that help them think clearly, communicate effectively, and navigate complexity with confidence.

My trainings blend clinical expertise, storytelling, reflective practice, and practical skill-building. Participants leave with evidence-informed tools, shared language for difficult conversations, and new ways of understanding the people they serve — and themselves.

Whether we're exploring motivational interviewing, trauma, justice-informed practice, vicarious trauma, or reflective practice, every training is designed to be engaging, interactive, and immediately applicable to real-world practice.

Available for keynote presentations, workshops, conferences, and organizational training. CEU-eligible trainings available upon request

Designed For Helpers & Healers

These trainings are designed for people whose work depends on trust, thoughtful communication, sound judgment, and meaningful human connection. Whether you work in healthcare, behavioral health, education, legal practice, nonprofit leadership, or public service, the focus remains the same: helping people navigate complexity with greater clarity, compassion, and confidence.

SIGNATURE TRAINING TOPICS

Justice-Informed Practice: A framework for understanding the intersection of law, trauma, and healing.

Justice involvement often leaves people feeling disoriented, overwhelmed, and uncertain of what comes next. This training introduces the Cartography of Justice-Involvement, a framework that helps professionals understand the emotional, relational, and psychological landscapes people navigate as they move through the legal system. Participants learn practical ways to orient clients, foster meaning-making, strengthen resilience, and support healing while helping people navigate some of the most challenging experiences of their lives.

Participants will learn:

  • How justice involvement impacts identity, relationships, decision-making, and the nervous system

  • How to use the Cartography of Justice-Involvement to orient clients and ourselves during overwhelming legal experiences

  • Practical strategies to foster meaning-making, strengthen resilience, and support healing throughout the legal process

The Hero Was Never Meant to Stay: A framework for understanding vicarious trauma, moral distress, and sustainable helping.

Helping professionals are trained to accompany others through suffering. Few are taught how to return home afterward. This training explores the psychological cost of sustained exposure to trauma, injustice, grief, and crisis, introducing a framework for understanding vicarious trauma through the lens of the Hero archetype, reflective practice, and parts work. Participants will explore practical ways to recognize the impact of helping work, reconnect with sources of nourishment, and cultivate sustainable practices that allow them to remain effective without losing themselves in the process.

Participants will learn:

  • How to recognize the signs of vicarious trauma, moral distress, and compassion fatigue

  • How to identify when the Hero has stayed in the "wasteland" too long and recognize pathways home

  • Practical strategies to reconnect with the ordinary sources of nourishment that sustain helping professionals

Motivational Interviewing, Reflective Practice & the Ethical Use of Self

Move beyond learning motivational interviewing techniques to exploring the ethical questions that arise whenever we help people change. This interactive training integrates motivational interviewing, reflective practice, and real clinical dilemmas to strengthen both clinical skill and self-awareness. Participants will examine the role of influence, autonomy, values, and the use of metaphor in helping relationships while developing practical strategies for navigating complex conversations with greater intention, humility, and integrity.

Participants will learn:

  • How to navigate influence, autonomy, and ethical decision-making in complex clinical situations

  • How to recognize your own values and intervene thoughtfully when they differ from your clients'.

  • How to use metaphor ethically to foster insight, support meaning-making, and promote meaningful change.
